U.S. stock futures rose Monday morning as oil prices retreated and the 10-year Treasury yield slipped below 5%. AI-linked shares were among the premarket leaders. The rally follows a mixed Friday close and last week’s Federal Reserve rate increase.
Market snapshot. At 5:09 a.m. ET, Reuters reported Dow futures up 0.6%, S&P 500 futures up 0.63% and Nasdaq-100 futures up 1.09%. A later Associated Press market report showed S&P futures up about 0.7%, Dow futures up 0.8% and Nasdaq futures up 1.1%. Futures can move substantially before the opening bell.
Friday’s close. The S&P 500 finished at 7,650.50, up 0.2%; the Dow closed at 51,682.64, down 0.2%; the Nasdaq Composite ended at 26,522.55, up 0.4%; and the Russell 2000 fell 0.5% to 2,860.40. Despite the index gains, most stocks declined, and the 10-year yield reached about 5%.
Cross-asset picture. In the AP Monday report, Brent crude was down 3.2% at $100.50 a barrel and U.S. crude down 3.2% at $92.98; the 10-year Treasury yield was near 4.96%. The dollar strengthened to ¥157.27 from ¥156.81, while the euro edged down to $1.1481 from $1.1483. At 5:03 a.m. ET, Reuters reported spot gold down 0.6% at $4,351.12 an ounce as the firmer dollar and profit-taking weighed on bullion. These prices come from separate snapshots and should not be read as simultaneous quotes.
Movers and catalysts. Reuters reported Intel up 5.4%, Marvell up 2.6%, Meta up 2.4% and Dell up 2.7% in premarket trading amid renewed interest in AI spending. Accenture gained about 6% after its announced partnership with Anthropic to establish embedded AI evaluators; the companies each expect to invest at least $1 billion over five years. Delta and American Airlines gained about 1% each as oil fell. These are premarket moves and may change.
What matters next. The Federal Reserve raised its target rate to 3.75%–4.00% last week and said inflation remains elevated. Lower oil and bond yields ease some immediate pressure on equities, but they do not resolve the inflation outlook. Chicago Fed President Austan Goolsbee is among the Fed speakers this week; the New York Fed calendar lists its household-spending survey at 11 a.m. ET today. Flash U.S. PMI readings arrive Wednesday, weekly jobless claims Thursday, and durable-goods orders and revised consumer sentiment Friday.
Analysis, not a confirmed outcome. A sustained drop in energy prices could support risk appetite and rate-sensitive shares. The opposing risk is a renewed oil spike or hotter inflation expectations, which could drive yields higher again. Middle East developments and a planned U.S.–China summit are additional headline risks. Watch whether the 10-year yield remains below 5% and whether gains broaden beyond the AI complex.
